LETTER-SETS THAT LOOK THE SAME BUT SOUND DIFFERENT

BARBARIC     PAPAL       PEPPER      ASSASSIN    TITILATION

2.  What causes the effect ?

TRIBOTRICITY - is electricity produced by friction [which is Greek; immediately suggesting a new phobia - see challenge]

But what about vivid ?

Damn accent.
