Life Purpouse: To become an archetypal fantasy writer, when people mention "fantasy" they immediately think of him.
Talents: Speaks French, German, Dutch, English, Korean, and a small amount of Afrikaans. Champion swimmer.
Early Childhood: Born into an impoverished family, Leroy discovered a small alcove in his shared bedroom wall. While his 5 siblings slept, Leroy dug away at the rotting plaster and found a small cache of J.R.R Tolkien novels, a collection of Ray Bradbury short stories, and assorted fantasy classics. While his siblings slept, he switched on a small pocket torch, his most valuable, yet not treasured possesion. At first it was complicated, but he eventually taught himself how to read with help from his older brother, Samson. He was just 5 at the time. Every night he wasn't reading he continued to chip away at the wall, covering it with a poster. Eventually he realised that there was a small library that had been plastered over. He was away for hours at a time, but Samson, his only friend, covered for him. By the age of 7, he had read all of the books in there off by heart. His mother quickly discovered this and sent him off to school, with some money she had set aside. His other siblings except Samson never had this chance. He was bullied, and made little friends except with a girl called Mika in his class. She lived in his run-down neighbourhood, and had little books as well. He frequently invited her round to his house to read with him. One day, when they were reading together, a street gang broke into the Heidiger house. The two of them hid in the wall, while his siblings and parents were taken from him. He watched Samson struggle valiantly as the muggers smashed the windows, and stole everything of value. Leroy's whole family was kidnapped except Samson, who obtained a nasty blow to his head and was left behind. TBC...

Oh Great CB I had an incredible comment on your posting but I deleted it by mistake. It now floats in some deletion universe & can not be recovered. Therefore, you'll have to imagine what wonders you would have received. Maybe next time my ingenious insights will not escape into the ether.

Leroy
What a start to your character. You tap into so many themes that I want to know more.
The library hidden by who? And why did he hide it? Or was it hidden? If the building slowly became derilect why weren't the books moved? There's so much mystery here.
Then Leroy finding the books. Now they're his and Samson's secret. Why do they keep it secret? Are books forbidden ? Or fantasy books? Could his family be in a police state or members of some restrictive religious group?
Reminds me of Handel (composer, 1685-1759) who had to teach himself music in secret because his parents wanted him to follow another career path.
And then we have the little boy learning to read with the aid of his brother.
Education following the child's needs rather than the child following the strait-jacket of conventions (which nonetheless suit most children sufficiently enough for them to get some sort of education).
I must admit I don't know the fantasy literature. But Tolkien and Bradbury do seem a strange mix.
Have you written stories? If not, maybe your Leroy creation above could be the basis for a Leroy Saga.
And what about the Pope. Is he both a Roman Catholic and a Salvation Army General? Or a military Pope. Have there been such things?

LEROY
Clearly no compulsory schooling. Will school help Leroy? Or does it limit his imagination ? Why does/did Samson go to school ? Has Leroy written any stories yet ? Has he created any fantasy worlds yet? Leroy could create a world in which there's a kid yearning to become a fantasy writer etc, And in time these worlds could interact - ie., in some supra-world Leroy could meet with the writer he created and the Pope who created him.

Life Purpose: To systematically inherit large portions of undue land via all manner of crime and lawsuits in order to create a separate dominion from the country of in which the land (undecided, he thinks it might be Turkey) exists.
Early Childhood: When he was 3, he used his precociousity and interlect to learn the language of the world around him, upon doing so, unfortunately he discovered the horrors of it. One might think, upon discovering these so young, one might become a crusader against all crime, but instead, little Earnest decided to become one of these horrors, only of a different kind. What he aspired to was meglomaniac liberty. Thus his life progressed. When his father died when he was 9, he was thrust head first into the world he wanted. He attended the House of Lords when he was 10, and began the career of a monarchical politician. Records show he is visiting Eartern Europe at the moment, we have our suspicions about what he is doing though.
Apparently, according to possibly unreliable Polish news sources he is staying the Grand Plaza of Bucharest at the moment and has been spotted with several Romanian ministers around the CBD, after searching the flight schedule of the airport they have discovered he is due to fly to Volgograd in Russia tomorrow.

Why Turkey ? Could he end up owning much of a country and have a parallel but secret dominion to the govenment of the country - like a powerful crime boss.
I have just watched Francois Truffaut's The 400 Blows. It is about a 12 year old boy who is in trouble at home, school and in the community. While he keeps getting caught he has a best friend who is a 'master criminal' and gets away with everything.
Is he going to ever plot against your most Imperial Majesty ?
