Some topics are never / seldom written published in poetry for kids. These include

If you think about it there is a pretty large group of subjects that they don't often write poems about. I'll just write a poem about one though.

Tagging/Graffiti

Our fence must attract taggers
Every day there seems to be
Another spray-paint message
For every eye to see

You might think they'd be put off
Because we cover every one
But no, each time we have a look
There's more plain as the sun

If I ever find the taggers
Who attack our house each day
They'll soon learn just how angry
I get on a very bad day

Diplomacy

The troops saluted,
the lords bowed their hats,
negativity was muted,
cheered all the diplomats.

Gold and silver,
sparkled everywhere,
and all around,
there was an imperial air.

Even nature stopped,
for the great tyrannizer,
and again the gentry dropped,
for Germany's Kaiser!

DIPLOMACY

Cool poem, Christopher. It sounds like they'er going off to war to be mowed down at the whim of the great Kaiser. I think the title should reflect this.

There's some nice lines - I like the idea of 'even nature stopping' for Der Kaiser. & negativity muted is a good way of putting what happens in such situations - note the lack of opposition to the War on Terror & Iraq. It is prob. most blatant with Guantanamo Bay where the US Govt. argument that the prisoners should not have any rights 'cos they're not prisoners of war etc. has seldom been challenged.
