Earlybirds All Aboard!
Posted on 22 May 2008First enrolled for the July Seniors Group has to be John Andrews of Hamilton who is very keen to play Diplomacy once again - and in hot pursuit we have a Junior enrollment from Pukekohe. And no, you have not been left off our mailing list - brochures have not yet been posted and are still piled from floor to ceiling in the office. This time our earlybirds came in response to email information or via the website. Post out begins next week.
REPORT ON A REVENGE TRAGEDY
Posted on 8 May 2008Almost all the Junior Seminar participants in April chose to attend Wild Kid Nick's lunchtime performances and expressed great enthusiasm for and appreciation of his revenge tragedy, MODEL AEROPLANE.
In this performance Nick acts the part of an 8 year old boy relating a significant incident in his life. Here are some of the children's comments:
'I like how you describe the story. I could really see it. I felt like you knew the person and what he looked like.' (CAITLIN 9yrs)
'I like how you can do a kid's point of view.' (ELIAS 10yrs)
'I like how you can change your voice and make it come to life.' (GEORGIA 8yrs)
'I like the way you can play a kid's part and don't use any props - it puts it in your imagination.' (LYRIC 10yrs)
'You had good expression and made it really funny.' (HUNTER 8yrs)
'You can really get into character when angry or sad.' (NICO 9yrs)
WHAT'S NEW...?
Posted on 2 May 2008Totally new workshops for April were Nick Oram's HERALDRY and Russell Greenwood's WEIRD & WACKY ART - both received ovations.
A new slant on a theme from 2007 were the CRIME SCENE games. These produced a significant waiting list so next time we may play three games rather than two and put this option into the afternoon.
Hilary Hall was back after an absence of nearly two years with BE A FAMOUS ARTIST and this time her artist was Holbein. The students worked on canvasses and produced some wonderful depictions of the extravagance of Tudor costume. As noted a week or so ago, Daniel Qin has already received an offer for his work from a collector.
For what's new for July - be sure to watch this space.
